In broadcasting the world's first live 3-D football game to theaters in Los Angeles, New York and Boston on Thursday evening, the NFL promises an "up close, personal, visceral" experience that could open a new revenue stream for the league.
Um...two tickets please.
LOL SpeakingPlainly!!! With would be so cool. I can see the new commercial for Monday Night Football...."Is it 3D yet?"
I saw the headline and got all excited. I was all set to somehow watch the game in 3D on Thursday night but alas it's not going to be possible for a while. Disappointed!
Then again, the first 3D movie I saw was Fantasia in a cinemax theatre. Between the effect and the seating being so steap I think I felt what people who suffer from vertigo feel like. Watching an NFL game like that might cause me to lunge out of my seat, land a few rows down, and look up to see if I crossed the goal line. Which brings up a question. Will the NFL fine me for arguing with a referee from my seat in a theatre?
Cool!
I know that I, personally, have had many sleepless nights recently, worrying if the NFL could find a new revenue stream.
I think I can speak for most people in saying, 'Thank God the NFL didn't broadcast in 3-D when Joe Theismann broke his leg".......Ewwww
WIll this get people to watch the NFL Network? I doubt it. Nor will it fill all those empty seats either.
What has happened that the NFL has to resort to this kind of cheesy gimmick?
But oddly not shown in San Diego or Oakland. How many people do they expect to pack a New York or Boston theater for a San Diego/Oakland game?
I don't even want to watch those inter-corporate events "games" in 2D.
They should show it to the real fans, not the corporate dimwits, (if they are broadcasting to them, then they could broadcasted to an Imax Theatre) owners and such are always in their luxury boxes, mingling with their companions and only show any interest in the game when shown on TV.
